The Weekly Sale Codeword for the week of August 16, 2023 – August 22, 2023, is Legend.
This week you’ll save 10% on all items with these game categories – Legend of the Burning Sands, Legend of the Five Rings, Lord of the Rings, Magazines (Inquest/Scrye/etc.), and Magic the Gathering.
To get the discount, head over to CategoryOneGames, add items to your cart from these categories, go to checkout, and enter the weekly codeword. You’ll see the discount apply as long as you only have items from these categories in your cart. Our system isn’t smart enough to handle any other items added and keep the discount in place. If you want to pick up items from other games, you can place a separate order for those and we will ship them out together and add any extra shipping to your account as store credit.
There will be a new sale every week.
The discounts this week include some heavy hitter categories. Make sure you pick up some of the Inquests and Scyres you need to fill in your collection. That is a category that deeply needs my attention as we have so many more magazines to add.
We are moving the weekly emails to Wednesday mornings. Tuesday is still a day where we are generally trying to get orders out and it is too tough for me to get those out at that time. Are we all cool with that? Cool!
I made a video showing some of our recent restocks including a lot of MLB Showdown, which is a must for Baseball card collectors and TCG Players.
Massive Restock of ……. Everything!
Last week was a bit rough. I was mostly working on buylists and the backend of our website had an issue where inventory would not move. That meant orders would come in and not remove items from stock which made orders not process correctly. At least my website company got that fixed within a few hours. That also meant we couldn’t add new inventory or buylists. I had most of the buylists we had in hand completed and we couldn’t do anything for about 2-3 days with them. That meant over the weekend that multiple buylists that should have been spread out were all added at the same time. This caused an avalanche of orders that I’m still working to get out from under.
We have some customers that have over 10 open orders with us right now and just when we think we have them all pulled, they throw on another one, haha, it always happens that way. We never get to Wednesday with 100 outstanding orders but here we are, trying to work through them. My guess is that we will not have this week cleared until this weekend.
That means the buylists coming in this week are building up. I’ve got around 10 that are sitting on our second room desk needing to be looked at. I’ll get to it here soon as we can get orders out.
Lord of the Rings
LOTR inventory has been piling up. While Foils and the last few sets are selling faster than we can add them, we are seeing a buildup of the first 12 sets stock. When we have over 8 of a Rare in stock in MP condition, we have been discounting it to 50% of NM price. It is a great way to get many of the playable cards for the game at a much lower price. Look for lots of great opportunities there.
This does impact our buy price on these as well. Because we have so many cards at a lower grade, we really are only looking for NM copies on buylists sent in for these cards and are only willing to pay bulk pricing at this point until we are able to lower our current inventory levels.
One thing we might look at bringing back are the grab bags of Rares for LOTR. While I don’t know if I want to go there just yet, it is very time intensive, this might be something over the next few months we add back.
All three of my kids are back in school. The two older ones are at high school and the youngest at his last year of elementary. It is nice not to have anyone at the middle school this year. I start in my Master’s program Monday and am a little stressed about the time that will take….we will see.
Have an Outstanding week!
