Scott’s Thoughts
Well… this week has been something.
Back on July 8th, I posted some updates to the Dead CCG group on Facebook about new cards we had in stock. Right after that, I tried to visit another page—and boom—got hit with a login prompt. I thought it was just a weird glitch. But nope… turns out Facebook suspended my account for cybersecurity issues. What does that even mean?
I followed the appeal process, thinking I’d get it cleared up in a day or two. Fast forward to July 24th… and I find out my account is permanently disabled. Just gone. This was my personal account I’ve had since 2004—back when it was TheFacebook and you needed a college email to sign up. Over 21 years of memories, photos, friends, and connections—gone.
I’ve since learned I’m far from alone. Look up “Facebook/Meta Bannings” on Reddit, TikTok, YouTube, or X and you’ll see post after post from others in the same boat. There’s even a great Forbes article breaking down how Facebook’s new AI moderation is going wild—banning over 10 million accounts and counting, with no recourse for real users.
I’ve contacted every news outlet in Utah and reached out to media contacts I know, trying to get attention on this. I’ll even include the message the Dead CCG group admin sent me that morning below—the one Facebook flagged and removed as a cybersecurity threat. You be the judge on whether their AI is out of control.
If you’ve got any advice, connections, or ideas to help me recover my account, I’d love to hear them. It’s more than just a social media profile—it’s 21 years of connections.
News from the Shop
Thankfully, there’s been a lot of good going on at the shop this week—especially if you’re a Transformers TCG fan! We had two big buylist orders roll in with some of the best cards from the game, including many that had been out of stock forever. Some hot ones have already been snatched up, but there are still 150+ freshly stocked cards available now. It’s taken all my willpower not to sneak a few for my personal collection…
I’ve got a growing stack of buylists on my desk that I’ll be digging into next. Expect some fun additions to hit the site over the next couple weeks—including a really nice Lord of the Rings collection I just picked up. Lots of clean, high-grade rares from sets 1 through 6—just how we like ‘em.
And for something a little different… I’ve added Initial D to the site! Yep, the Fast & Furious-style street racer anime CCG. I’ve also been prepping Yu Yu Hakusho, but wow, that game is a beast—First Edition and Unlimited variants of everything. It might take me a bit longer than I thought, but it’s on my radar.
That’s it for this week. If you’ve been part of the Facebook purge too, or just want to talk Transformers, LOTR, or why Yu Yu Hakusho is a checklist nightmare—shoot me a message. I’m always up for card talk.
We are getting closer to the NFL season and I can’t wait. I’m hoping for big things from both the Titans and Cardinals. I know the Titans will struggle this year but hope to see Cam Ward develop as the season progresses.
